Does The Size Of My Dog Matter?
Not at all, we are happy to walk dogs of all sizes.
What If It’s Raining?
That’s not a problem for us; we’ll be out walking even if it’s raining cats and dogs. If they have a coat we’ll put that on before we go out and towel them down once we return.
Do You Give Treats?
Treats are given to reward good behavior unless requested otherwise by the pet parent.
Do You Walk Dogs Off The Lead?
We prefer having as many of our dogs off lead as possible so they can get the mental and physical stimulation they need. We usually keep new dogs and puppies on training leads to start with until we feel 100% confident that we have their control.
What Areas Do You Cover?
We are based in the Hope area of Salford and currently cover the general area of; Eccles, Ellesmere Park, Monton, Worsley, Winton, Weaste, Irlam o’ th’ Height and Swinton.
For home boarding we cover a wider area, why not get in touch to find out if we can help.
Do I Have To Sign A Contract?

How Many Dogs Do You Take On A Group Walk?

Are There Any Breeds Of Dogs You Won’t Walk?
We are happy to walk any breed of dog as they will all be assessed during the consultation and given a solo trial walk to ensure they will not put the public, other dogs or us at risk.
Please note, the following breeds are banned in the UK:
- Pit Bull Terrier
- Japanese Tosa
- Dogo Argentino
- Fila Braziliero
How Do You Accommodate Nervous Dogs?
We would offer home visits or solo walks where your dog would have one-on-one attention. Once we get to know your dog we can re-evaluate their walking routine and progressively introduce them into a small, suitable group walk if appropriate.
My Dog Can Be Aggressive To Other Dogs Or People And Has To Wear A Muzzle, Can You Still Walk Him?
Yes. We can offer solo walks where the dog remains on the lead but we will first come to meet you and your dog and carry out an assessment.
I Often Have To Work At Short Notice Can You Be Flexible?
Yes! Just give us as much notice as possible and we will endeavor to book your dog in.
We Have A Dog, Will You Do Home Visits If We Go Away?
No we’re afraid we cannot offer this service. Dogs need companionship and a higher level of care than other pet types and should not be left alone for extensive periods of time. If you are going away, whether it’s just overnight or for longer, why not consider our home boarding where you can be sure that your dog is getting the care and cuddles they deserve.
How Much Notice Do I Have To Give If I Want To Cancel?
We politely request that we are given at least 24 hours notice of cancellation in order for us to amend our upcoming schedules. We understand that sometimes your plans change and so, unlike some other dog walkers, we don’t charge for cancellations.
Will Strangers Come Into My House To Carry Out Booked Services?
Absolutely not, Janet Reading is the primary service provider and will meet you and your pet before any services are arranged. No other staff member will enter your house without prior arrangement.
What Would Happen If My Dog Was Injured Or Taken Ill?
We will ask you for up to date vet details at your initial registration. In an emergency situation we would endeavor to take your dog to their registered veterinary surgery and of course we would contact you immediately. We have Canine First Aid training and always carry a first aid kit during the walks.
How Do I Pay For Barkers Services?
Payment can be made in cash, cheque or bank transfer either after each session, weekly or monthly.
If home boarding is required we ask for a 25% non-refundable deposit of the total fee to secure the booking.
